Melbourne’s climate is temperate with warm to hot summers and cool winters. During January and February, on average, the maximum temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius (86F) on one day in four and exceeds 35 degrees Celsius (95F), one day in seven. The average maximum temperature for July is 13.5C (56F) and the average annual rainfall is 661mms (26 inches).


Melbourne is Australia’s second largest city, situated on the Eastern seaboard of Australia in the State of Victoria.

With a population of over 4 million, Melbourne has become a cosmopolitan metropolis.

  • Melbourne is considered to be the most liveable city and CULTURAL capital of Australia.

 

  • Melbourne is considered to be the World’s SPORTING capital hosting world class events.

The Victorian sporting calendar includes an array of major events, which attract participants and spectators from both Australia and overseas.

Australia's top annual sporting events are held in Victoria - the Australian Football League Grand Final, the Melbourne Cup, the Australian Open Tennis and The Australian Grand Prix.

  • Melbourne is situated on the Yarra River bordered by parks and gardens. Pleasure craft, rowers and canoeists cruise the river while cyclists and walkers traverse its banks.   River cruises are based near Princes Bridge in the heart of the City and the metropolitan rail network centres on the nearby central Flinders Street station. Melbourne trams are world famous and allow the visitor to see the City in a traditional way.

  • Melbourne has a large cosmopolitan community which has earned us the reputation of Australia’s DINING capital boasting a variety of international cuisines from all corners of the world.

  • As dusk falls, Melbourne city becomes a place of bright lights and welcoming venues where people gather to talk, eat and be entertained.

  • Melbourne is a city of beautiful parks and gardens and is surrounded by easy day trips from the moist fern forests of the Dandenong Ranges to the rugged coastline of the Great Ocean Road.

  • Wine lovers can indulge in Victoria’s world acclaimed cold climate wines of the nearby Yarra Valley, Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas

 

  • A little further afield in the old gold mining provincial town of Bendigo in central Victoria, visitors may enjoy a day trip to Sovereign Hill Historical Park, to learn about early gold mining days of pioneer Victoria.
